David Kessler

David Kessler is one of the world’s foremost experts on healing and loss. His experience as a child witnessing a mass shooting while his mother was dying in a hospital helped him begin his journey. David is the author of five best-selling books, including On Grief and Grieving and Life Lessons, with Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. His latest book, Finding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief, includes his most personal journey of healing and is forthcoming in November 2019. He also coauthored You Can Heal Your Heart with Louise Hay. His first book, The Needs of the Dying, received praise by Mother Teresa. In 2016, David’s younger son died suddenly at the age of 21 years.

  • Grief and Healing in the Wake of the Storm

David Kessler knows firsthand what it’s like to lose your home and all the memories it holds. He was 9 years old when Hurricane Camille destroyed his family’s house on the Gulf of Mexico. He remembers sorting through their wet, ruined possessions, looking for something, anything that was salvageable.
