Kate Johnson

Kate Johnson’s favorite words are awareness, embodiment, and action. She is an interdisciplinary teacher, writer, and dancer who incorporates Buddhadharma and social justice into her work. Kate has been practicing Buddhist meditation in the western Insight/Theravada tradition since 2008, and has trained primarily at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. She teaches at New York Insight and the Rubin Museum in New York, the Institute for Contemporary Art in Philadelphia, and is on staff at the Buddhist Peace Fellowship, where she designs online programs and leads retreats. In her consulting practice, Kate offers mindful, creative approaches to diversity, equity, and inclusion education. Her first book, about waking up to power and oppression as spiritual practice, is forthcoming in 2019.
