Melia Bensussen

Melia Bensussen is an Obie-award-winning director who principally directs new works and reinterprets the classics. Raised in Mexico City, Melia is fluent in Spanish and has translated and adapted a variety of texts including her edition of the Langston Hughes translation of Garcia Lorca’s Blood Wedding. She is currently working on commissions and productions for 2018-19 at ACT in San Francisco and the Huntington in Boston. Melia serves as chair of the Arts Advisory Board for the Princess Grace Foundation, is chair of the Performing Arts Department at Emerson College in Boston, and is on the executive board of SDC, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
