The Scientific Rationale and Research Evidence for Yoga in Modern Healthcare
- Presenter: Dr. Sat Bir S. Khalsa
YOGA AS A THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTION
Yoga is an ancient behavioral practice that allows for the development and enhancement of skills and factors such as physical functioning, mind-body awareness, self-regulation of internal physiological and psychological states, and life's meaning and purpose.
Join Sat Bir Singh Khalsa, PhD, associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Yoga Therapy, as he reviews and summarizes the basic science underlying the psychophysiology of yoga practices—including the physical, mental, and spiritual mechanisms of action.
In easy-to-understand language, Sat Bir Khalsa will illustrate how yoga offers effective strategies and outcomes that are not generally available in modern medicine. He will also describe the rationale for yoga as a valuable and credible therapeutic intervention within the context of the current dominant characteristics of the medical system, along with examples of research illustrating the features and benefits of a yoga practice.
NOTE All recordings will be available within 72 hours of the end of each session. You will have access to the video recording for 30 days after the program ends.
