LEARN FROM MASTER TEACHERS & MEDICAL EXPERTS
Stress, burnout, and mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression, are highly prevalent especially in critical occupations like healthcare and education. If not addressed adequately, these can tip the normal balance of psychoneuroimmunology into the chronic inflammation associated with common health conditions from insomnia to significant illness.
Join HariKirin Khalsa, MD, volunteer faculty for UMass Chan Medical School, and Sat Bir S. Khalsa, PhD, associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, for a program that will explore the science, research, and personal experience of how yoga can transform these challenges.
Through lectures, yoga and meditation practices, self-reflection, and group process, you will:
- Understand the physiology and psychology of chronic stress, burnout, and other stress-related mental health conditions.
- Experience practices intended to transform anxiety, stress, and burnout, improve stress tolerance and resilience, avoid subsequent symptoms and conditions, and replenish and uplift you.
- Gain knowledge of the scientific and clinical rationale for yoga and meditation practices to effectively address the underlying causes of these conditions.
- Acquire an overview of the clinical trial research evidence of mind-body practices and yoga for these conditions.
- Understand the role of moral injury in burnout for care providers.
Finish the program with a personal action plan to help you in your career and personal life. This program is suitable for all, especially caregivers and professionals in healthcare and education.
NOTE More than 70% of this program is experiential. It is suitable for those experiencing these conditions as well as for professionals who wish to deepen their understanding in the care of others. No prior yoga or meditation experience is needed. Those who are more comfortable practicing yoga in a chair are welcome. Please bring a notebook or journal and dress comfortably.
