The Medicine of Sound Healing and Somatic Breathwork
Embodiment, Clarity, and Creativity
Join Kripalu faculty, Jon Orsini and Jess Frey, for an exploration of radical self-care, healing, and community through the medicine of breath and sound.
The simplest and most effective way to access and shift our nervous system is through our own breath. Somatic Breathwork is an immersive practice that can facilitate deep emotional release, nervous system regulation, expanded states of awareness, and profound personal insight. Through intentional breathing, you may access layers of stored stress, memories, emotions, and patterns that are not always available through thinking alone. Combined with the harmonizing qualities of sound, both become pathways to awakening, possibility, and intimacy—with the Self, others, and all of life.
Through Somatic Breathwork, meditation, sound, group dialog, reflective journaling, and more, you will:
- Experience the vibrational effects of crystal bowls, chimes, gongs, and song
- Participate in a variety of conscious breathing techniques to connect to your body's wisdom
- Enjoy community connection for sharing and integration.
Return home feeling lighter, more open and clear after a weekend of deep connection with accessible tools to live a more alive, flowing, and authentic life.
Considerations and Contraindications: While Somatic Breathwork can be a powerful complement to personal growth and healing, it is not a substitute for psychotherapy, medical care, or mental health treatment. If you are currently working with a therapist or healthcare provider, this practice can often complement that work, but it should not replace professional care. It is not appropriate if you are pregnant, have cardiovascular problems, including angina or heart attack, uncontrolled high blood pressure, glaucoma, retinal detachment, osteoporosis, a history of seizures, stroke, major psychiatric conditions, recent surgery, acute infectious illness or epilepsy. If you have any doubt about whether you should participate, please consult with your primary care physician. Persons with asthma should bring their inhaler and consult with their primary care physician.
