How Do We Move with Love?

At Kripalu, love is a daily practice. We asked our faculty to share how they move through the world with love, in their teaching, their relationships, and their own inner journeys. Their words are a window into the heart of this work: mindful movement, radical compassion, and the quiet courage to lead with love.

“For me, to really commit to moving with Love requires almost constant prayer and meditation on God’s love and presence. I see and feel his love in nature, in the beauty and intelligence of Creation, it’s everywhere when I look for it. Spending quiet time immersed in the “more than human world” is what helps me return again and again this spirit of love that moves through all things.”

“I courageously choose LOVE every single day. I practice and walk in the footsteps of Love welcoming the force of Love to teach, guide, and show me The Way. I allow myself to be an open channel for love to enter, be received, circulate through, expressed out, and gifted on. I make time to intentionally engage in rituals that help me Remember again and again I am LOVE- WE are LOVE- The answer is LOVE.”

"Moving with love means flowing from the still place inside where truth and kindness meet, then pouring that energy into the world like light through a prism—soft, intentional, wide spread, and alive with the hope of connection. It is a dance of presence, grace, and open-hearted invitation.”

"One practice that helps me to move through the day with love is to slow down and soften when I see someone trying to connect. Social connections are the most vital resource for our happiness and wellbeing — the research is abundant and unequivocal. But so often, in the hustle and the hurry of the day, it's easy to miss these moments. We wake up to the 'to-do' list. We live in a world that loves to measure what we make, what we accomplish.  I'm looking for ways to wake up and measure the day less in how much I get done, and more in how I treat people along the way. So when someone reaches out, I tell myself it's time to slow down, soften, and reach back."

“By carving out adequate time and space to accept my feelings in the moment they reveal themselves, and after. Moving in love requires that I stay committed to my self-care, keep a consistent contemplative practice, and lean on the support of family and friends. Moving in love means gardening and reaping the benefits of the harvest.”

“The aim of a Kripalu Yogi is to move with love in every aspect of their life. To move with love gathers together the three main threads of Kripalu Yoga as a way of life. The first thread is the cultivation of wisdom as it was handed down by our ancestors, taught to us by our teachers, and revealed to us by our own experience. Moving with love means applying wisdom to how we see ourselves, each other, and the choices that we make. The next thread is the cultivation of embodied presence, or more simply awareness. To move with love is to know that there is only ever this moment. The practices of Kripalu Yoga allow the individual to grow over time in their ability to bring undivided attention to what is real and true here now. Combining present moment awareness with a developing sense of what is wise and true sets the stage for the final thread. John Robbins described this practice as “giving voice with your life to the great heart within you”. The Yoga Sutras described it as “radiating kindness, compassion, Joy, and equanimity”. In this thread we allow the heart to guide us. To move with love is to move with aware
