Bio
Reggie Hubbard is the founder/Chief Serving Officer of Active Peace. He has done many things, but is most proud of being a caring human, a stroke survivor, teacher/wisdom steward, strategist, organizer/good trouble maker, spiritual advisor, minister of sound and devoted seeker of truth, compassion, health, well-being and justice for all. He works with individuals and organizations to build compassion and mutual understanding, even when it seems most difficult. He firmly believes in the power of honest conversation and the healing that emerges in community
Through Active Peace, he teaches all walks of life through wisdom, movement, meditation and sound, ways to cultivate well-being as a foundation rather than an afterthought. Reggie Hubbard is an internationally recognized yoga and meditation teacher whose yoga and meditation practice have served as a sanctuary of peace and perspective while navigating the stresses of being an intelligent, high achieving man of color in the world. He began practicing yoga under extreme emotional distress at work and now freely shares his peace practice as widely and creatively as possible.
As a Kripalu visionary, Reggie has created innovative programming virtually through the Kripalu Online School (Winter Blues Grief Sangha, Sonic Tonic: Sound Meditation) and on campus (Permission and Refuge: Healing Retreat for Men of Color; Mending and Tending: A Spring Retreat on Grief) centered in sharing healing practices and wisdom to the underserved communities (men of color) or offering relief around challenging subjects (grief and loss).
Reggie has taught elected officials, Congressional staff, leading progressive organizations, labor unions and activists - as well as individuals from all walks of life. As part of his studies, he has authored a thesis entitled "Yoga and Spiritual Activism: Serving Humanity from a Sense of Devotion and Love" and has also been a featured speaker on new consciousness, racial justice, and civic engagement for leading wellness publications, podcasts, and platforms including the Be Here Now Network, Meditation Magazine, Mind and Life Institute, the Omega Institute, the Sedona Yoga Festival, SoundsTrue, Upaya Zen Center, Yoga Alliance and Yoga Journal (where he was named as one of the teachers to watch in 2026).
In addition to his teaching practice, Reggie has held senior strategic/logistical roles across a variety of fields, ranging from global marketing, community and digital organizing to political and issue campaigning. His life work sits at the intersection of bringing more peace and balance to activists and guiding the wellness community toward being more socially conscious, engaged and concerned citizens. He holds a BA in Philosophy from Yale University, an MBA in Strategy and Innovation from the Vlerick Business School and has several yoga and meditation certifications (E-RYT 500, YACEP and MMTCP Mindfulness Meditation Training) studying with teachers such as Faith Hunter, Amy Ippolitti, Yogarupa Rod Stryker, Jack Kornfield, and Tara Brach—and countless others along the path.
