ChiRunning and ChiWalking

For all levels.

A favorite course at Kripalu for more than 10 years, ChiRunning and ChiWalking are practices based on the highly effective movement principles of tai chi, which can transform your relationship with running, walking, and everyday movement.

In this program, ChiRunning founders Danny and Katherine Dreyer offer personal coaching and attention, helping you learn to

  • Optimize your alignment and breathing
  • Adapt your technique for roads and trails
  • Build a custom training program
  • Transition between walking and running with Chi Walk-Run
  • Experience running and walking as a mindful practice, and nature as a moving meditation.

Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned runner, these principles help you run and walk with flow and ease. Regardless of your age or level of conditioning, you can improve your enjoyment and performance while reducing your effort and taking your health and fitness to a whole new level.

Note During practice sessions, runners will be coached by Danny, and walkers by Katherine. You’ll receive lots of personal attention and support from these two seasoned experts. Foundational sessions will be taught jointly with runners and walkers together.
