Kripalu Outdoors: Winter Woods Survival
- Presenter: Micah Mortali
EXPLORE SURVIVAL, TRACKING, AND FIRECRAFT
Winter is a beautiful and powerful time of year when snow blankets the earth and creates a palette for our forest friends to tell their stories in tracks and trails. It is also a season during which the right clothes, gear, and proper skills can make all the difference.
Author and founder of the Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Leadership Micah Mortali guides you on this immersive weekend program situated on the Kripalu campus. Join Micah for an enlivening and adventurous outdoor workshop in which you will learn:
- Animal tracking skills
- What to carry so you are always prepared
- How to craft fire in any conditions and build a shelter to keep you dry and warm
- How to gather and treat water and make emergency forest tea
- Nature meditations to deepen your connection with the outdoors
This program is for anyone who wants to learn how to embrace the winter season with confidence, awareness, and a deeper connection to the world around you.
NOTE Participants should plan to be outside for five hours each day. Please dress in layers appropriate for being outside for extended periods during this time of year and bring waterproof boots, wool socks, long underwear, gloves, hats, as well as a backpack with a thermos for carrying hot liquids, snacks, and extra layers.
