Become a Kripalu Certified Yoga Teacher
Those who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or People of Color) are invited to apply to this Yoga Alliance–approved, 200-Hour Kripalu Yoga Teacher certification program. This is a unique opportunity to become a Kripalu certified yoga teacher while learning within a BIPOC community of practitioners.
For the second year in a row, Kripalu is pleased to offer a teacher training specifically dedicated to preparing members of the Global Majority to become Kripalu Yoga teachers. This training is taught by BIPOC Kripalu faculty—and designed for BIPOC practitioners—to uplift the experiences, wisdom, and talents of all involved.
This certification program trains you to design and deliver safe, engaging, and empowering yoga classes. Through your participation in this program, you will deepen your yoga practice and learn how to incorporate the wisdom of yoga into your daily life. In this training, you will learn:
- The fundamentals of guiding Kripalu Yoga
- The principles and practices of Kripalu Yoga’s 21 foundational asanas
- Introductory anatomy and physiology applied to asana
- Fundamentals of yoga’s rich philosophical traditions
- How to make your class adaptable and accessible
- Techniques to guide students in developing nonjudgmental self-awareness and self-compassion
- Skills for designing well-rounded classes with a balance of warm-ups, asanas, pranayama, relaxation, and meditation.
This three-month hybrid training will also look at yoga’s long history within communities of color so that you can:
- Expand your knowledge of cultural voices that are a part of yoga’s past and present environment
- Build your confidence as a BIPOC teacher, locating yourself within yoga’s broad lineage
- Develop BIPOC-related resources and community to support your teaching well after the training has ended.
You will emerge from this training with the tools, foundational skills, and knowledge to develop a teaching practice that can be impactful to a wide variety of communities, populations, and environments.
