Nourishment is part of the practice.
The way we eat can be a way of paying attention to our bodies, to the seasons, and to the world around us.
Our approach brings together the wisdom of Ayurveda, modern nutritional science, and more than 50 years of Kripalu tradition. We believe nourishment can be both simple and joyful—and that how we eat matters just as much as what we eat.
Our Food Philosophy
Rooted in the Seasons
We let the seasons help shape what’s on the table. Our menus celebrate ingredients at their best, bringing variety and a natural rhythm to the way we eat throughout the year.
Local When Possible
We believe where our food comes from matters. Kripalu works with local farms, dairies, and producers throughout the Berkshires and surrounding region, supporting our food community while bringing fresh ingredients closer to the source.
Organic, With Intention
We prioritize organic ingredients whenever possible, choosing foods that support the well-being of both people and the planet.
Inspired by Ayurveda
Our approach draws on the wisdom of Ayurveda, which understands food as an essential part of living in balance. That means embracing variety, seasonality, the six tastes, and the understanding that nourishment isn't one-size-fits-all.
Made to Be Savored
How we eat matters, too. We invite guests to slow down, notice, taste, and listen to their bodies. From silent breakfast to meals shared around the table, food at Kripalu is an opportunity for mindfulness, pleasure, and connection.
It Starts with the Ingredients
Here in the Berkshires, we’re fortunate to be surrounded by farms, dairies, and food producers doing extraordinary work. We source locally throughout the year, allowing what’s growing around us to help shape what’s on the table.
Vegetables, whole grains, and legumes form the foundation of our menus, complemented by thoughtfully sourced fish, poultry, and dairy. From fresh greens and seasonal vegetables to grains, beans, herbs, and spices, we choose ingredients with nourishment, flavor, and their origins in mind.
For us, sourcing isn’t separate from our food philosophy. It’s part of knowing where our food comes from, supporting the community around us, and eating in closer relationship with the seasons.
