Renegade Grief Navigating Life After Loss

COMMUNITY AND CREATIVE CARE PRACTICES FOR GRIEF

Taking time to tend to grief in our death-denying culture is a radical, brave and essential act.

Join Carla Fernandez, author of Renegade Grief and cofounder of nationwide grief peer-support group The Dinner Party, and Dr. Christina Semple, death doula and grief guide, for a weekend retreat to explore the creative care practices that transform grief from a noun into a verb. When we're present for it, grief is an action that infuses our life with meaning, connection, and a sense of forward motion. Together, Carla and Christina will support you on a social-emotional journey through art, play, reflection, and somatic practices.

Through facilitated conversation, journaling and letter writing, altar building, and more, you will:

  • Learn grief's processes and impacts and how to normalize it.
  • Understand the importance of peer-support in navigating a loss.
  • Experience care practices to tend to your grief.
  • Develop a grief self-care plan.
  • Gain a grief support community.

Weaving the power of community to bring grievers together, this weekend will be filled with soul-nourishing rituals and care practices to connect, inspire, and embolden participants. Whether your loss journey began one month, one year, or one decade ago, all are welcome here.

NOTE Program activities are inspired by, and come directly from, the 20+ care practices in Renegade Grief.
