AWAKEN YOUR RESILIENCE
"Of all the dangers we face, from climate chaos to nuclear war, none is so great as the deadening of our response."—Joanna Macy, root teacher of the Work That Reconnects
We are living in a time of accelerating climate disruption, mass extinction, war, and systemic injustice. It is only natural for our hearts to respond with fear, grief, anger, despair, or overwhelm in the face of such widespread suffering. These emotions, while difficult, need not be obstacles—instead, they can be invitations. When we meet them with skill and community support, they can become powerful gateways to reconnect to an expanded sense of self, to one another, and to our living Earth.
Join senior yoga teacher and Work the Reconnects facilitator, Barrie Risman, for an interactive workshop introducing The Work That Reconnects, an experiential group process developed by Joanna Macy in the 1970s that has only become more relevant over the decades.
Grounded in deep ecology, systems thinking, and spiritual traditions, this powerful framework helps us remember our essential belonging to the web of life—awakening our creativity, resilience, solidarity, and motivation to act on behalf of a more just and thriving world.
In this workshop, you will:
- Learn the core concepts behind The Work That Reconnects.
- Engage in experiential practices that inspire and connect.
- Receive support in moving beyond apathy, numbness, or burnout into greater presence, clarity, and purpose.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world, longing for meaningful engagement, or seeking to sustain your activism with more resilience and joy—this workshop is for you.
Come as you are. All are welcome.
