Stillness and Liberation A Silent Retreat

EXPLORE THE DEPTHS OF SILENCE

“The quieter you become the more you are able to hear.” - Rumi

We treasure this life and yet we are often unable to hear ourselves think. We are constantly being bombarded by, and absorbing, information at a dizzying pace. Between our phones, televisions, and computers, when do we have time to just turn off and breathe?

Join gifted yoga and meditation teacher, author, TEDx speaker, and documentary filmmaker Hawah Kasat for an opportunity to plunge, excavate, and explore the depths of silence and solitude together. Hawah will guide you with a culturally sensitive soft touch and a big compassionate heart toward the bounty of silence.

Through both guided and silent meditation practice, pranayama practice, dharma talks, and very light movement, you will

  • Still the "monkey mind" through pratyahara, the withdrawal of the senses
  • Sit with what comes up in the spaces between your thoughts, breath, and heartbeat
  • Explore the subtle nuances between yogic and Buddhist meditation traditions.

Whether you are brand new to a vow of silence or a veteran silent retreater, this program is a great way to explore what it feels like to observe noble silence and an ideal opportunity to tune up your senses of awareness and perception.

Note Program participants will be encouraged to take a vow of noble silence where there is no writing, reading, or talking. There will be certain hours of the day when writing will be permitted and Q&A will take place.During some days and time periods, even eye contact with others will be discouraged. You are encouraged to also keep off your phone during the retreat.
