Yoga vs. Osteoporosis Teacher Certification

spring 2025 yoga

Master a Medically Proven Technique for Bone Health

Join pioneering osteoporosis expert Loren Fishman, M.D., and yoga teacher Liz Larson for an immersive, hands-on training at Kripalu focused on the safe and effective teaching of the Yoga vs. Osteoporosis series.

Over this in-person weekend, you’ll deepen your understanding of the poses through direct experience—refining alignment, exploring adaptations, and learning how to guide others with clarity and care. Through practicum sessions, you’ll practice teaching in a supportive environment, receiving real-time feedback from Dr. Fishman, Liz Larson, and senior members of their teaching team.

Assessment is based on your ability to integrate the core principles of the method into your teaching. You’ll learn how to clearly and safely instruct a range of pose variations, meeting students where they are—without needing to perform every version yourself.

For those interested in certification, this Kripalu training is part of a two-part program that includes a required online session (June 26–28). You can learn more about the optional online portion at sciatica.org or register for the add-on online program here.

NOTE: Both parts of the program are geared toward yoga teachers and yoga therapists, but it is open to all, regardless of certification status or previous yoga experience.

NOTE: The two-weekend certification program is approved for 20 hours CEU by The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). Those who achieve certification will have the option to be listed as certified teachers on sciatica.org.

More Information About Certification

If you would like to be certified to teach the Fishman Method of Yoga for Osteoporosis, you can learn more about the optional online portion at sciatica.org or register for the add-on online program here.

Teacher Certification Requirements

If you seek Teacher Certification, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be: a yoga teacher with at least a 200-hr certification OR, a medical professional (MD, RN, BSN, PT, OT, LMT, etc.).
  • You must also pass the written exam AND live practicum involving successfully and safely teaching yoga poses to the group.

Registration for and attendance at both weekends is required for teacher certification.

NOTE: You can join both parts of the program without seeking certification, in fact without any credentials at all. Every time this program is offered, people new to yoga come and have good experiences.

Registration is in two parts for certification:

  • Register with Dr. Fishman's Method HERE for Weekend #1, the online June 26-28 weekend.
  • Register with Kripalu Center on this webpage for Weekend #2, the in-person practicum weekend at Kripalu.

Registration and attendance at BOTH weekends is required for those seeking teacher certification, with possible special arrangements for participants from abroad.

This live and online, hybrid, 20-hour two-weekend program is geared toward yoga teachers and yoga therapists, but anyone may attend.

NOTE: The two-weekend certification program is approved for 20 hours CEU by The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). Those who achieve certification will have the option to be listed as certified teachers on sciatica.org.
