Adaptive Yoga Training for the Yoga and Medical Community

For yoga teachers and therapists, physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, and other medical professionals, and anyone interested in deepening their own personal practice.

Achieve positive outcomes for yourself, your students, and patients who deal with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions with sitting, standing, and floor sequences for spine and hip conditions. Medical yoga therapist Terry Roth Schaff has devoted the last decade to developing focused yoga sequences that address conditions such as osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, bulging and herniated discs, stenosis, piriformis syndrome, SI joint derangement, labral tears, and bursitis. Physicians at major medical schools and hospitals endorse this program and recommend its practices to treat and relieve pain.

This training prepares you to

  • Understand human anatomy and physiology as it relates to musculoskeletal and neurological conditions
  • Modify yoga postures for people with physical impairments that affect stability, balance, flexibility, and range of motion
  • Structure classes so that students with medical issues can participate safely and comfortably
  • Lead people with medical conditions through a practice that helps relieve pain and improve quality of life.

Successful completion of this training prepares you to teach yoga in a variety of settings, including independent and assisted-living facilities, nursing homes, and hospitals.

Note Tuition includes training manuals and Terry Roth Schaff’s Chair-Supported Yoga DVD. The International Association of Yoga Therapy (IAYT) and Yoga Alliance (YA) both award 25-hours of continuing education credits for successful completion of this program through Terry Roth Schaff, a recognized continuing education provider. Please contact Terry directly for more information at terry@schaffyogatherapy.com.

“This was an intense, comprehensive, extremely organized, and outstanding program. The integration of medical conditions and anatomy with specific yoga poses to improve was the most valuable take-home. Truly transformative."—Program Participant
