BEFRIEND YOUR INNER EXPERIENCE
Being out of touch with yourself and the feelings of people around you is one of the hallmarks of traumatic stress. Awareness of our bodily sensations holds an important key for understanding, self-balancing, cobalancing, and healing from trauma. Restoring the ability and capacity to be aware in the present moment requires reestablishing an awareness of our senses and being able to befriend our interior reactions to our surroundings.
Join somatic educator, Licia Sky, for a program that helps you discover how you can restore your ability and capacity to be aware in the present moment. Through a gentle process of listening into sensations that incorporate orienting and focusing attention, breath, sound, and movement, learn detailed body tracking meditations that incorporate interoception and proprioception—and how they inform our sense of safety and our availability to engage.
In this program, you will:
- Observe how nonverbal awareness affects physical and emotional states.
- Explore nonverbal vocalizing and how voice affects our body for calming, energizing, and tension release.
- Learn to track shifts of state through nonverbal interaction in yourself and in others to foster attunement.
Explorations are all nonverbal, and time is provided after each exercise to process the experience and unpack ways they can be practiced to build self-awareness and enhance meaningful engagement. Return home with techniques for noticing subtle inner shifts so you can fully engage with your body, thoughts, and feelings.
NOTE Special guest Bessel Van Der Kolk will share the neuroscience that underlies this workshop.
