Faces of Shekhinah The Divine Feminine Through a Jewish Lens
- Presenter: Rabbi Jill Hammer
- Presenter: Shoshana Jedwab
TIME FOR DEVOTION & EXPLORATION
Across history, Jews have described meeting deities in feminine form—as a sacred presence, as a wise woman, mother, daughter, refugee, warrior, and as the world itself. These profound images have captivated mystics and seekers for many generations in spite of the ways that the Bible, Talmud, and Jewish prayer have tended to depict God as masculine. Shekhinah, Presence, or Indwelling are just some of the names Jews have had for God/dess in a feminine mode.
With Rabbi Jill Hammer—founder of the Kohenet Hebrew Priestess Institute and long-time explorer of legends of the sacred feminine in Jewish tradition—as your guide, explore these diverse feminine forms of deity and their unique, and sometimes opposing, gifts through sacred story, chant, meditative journey, conversation, and creative expression. We’ll consider how we can meet these divine healing forms and which ones feel closest to our hearts, minds, and souls.
Through our journey together, we’ll empower ourselves to move beyond conventional models of the sacred and create a vibrant connection to Shekhinah.
