How To Use Mala Beads
- Presenter: Rajeshwari Gretchen Carmel
LEARN THE ENERGETIC & HEALING QUALITIES OF MALAS
A mala, or garland, is a string of prayer beads. Mala beads have been used for spiritual practices and worn for thousands of years in the traditions of Buddhism and Hinduism alike. Traditionally, they are used as a counting tool for the recitation of sacred words called Mantra Japa Meditation—and today, many modern yogis wear malas as jewelry or as a sacred and devotional statement.
Join Rajeshwari Gretchen Carmel and discover the secrets to this sacred discipline. She will explain how and why mala beads can enhance and deepen a meditation practice. In addition to learning the history, symbology, and meaning of the 108 beads, you will:
- Learn how to hold the mala and count the beads.
- Understand the different types of malas and how to choose one.
- Embrace the energetics and healing qualities of chanting with malas.
- Know what to do if your mala breaks, and how to maintain and clean your malas.
This one-night online program includes discussion, group chant, and Q&A. All levels are welcome and no prior experience with mantra is necessary. It is suggested to have a mala, but not necessary.
